According to a report by Maktoob Media, a Muslim man named Ali Mohammed who had served as the caretaker of a Hindu temple in Uttar Pradesh, India, for 35 years was removed from his position after a video of him offering namaz (Muslim prayer) went viral. The incident, which occurred in the Badaun district, highlights a significant shift in communal relations.

For over three decades, Mohammed had cared for the Brahmdev Maharaj temple, performing duties such as cleaning, lighting lamps, and assisting devotees. The temple had become both his home and his livelihood. The article notes that he had quietly offered namaz under a tree on the temple grounds for years without objection.

However, his peaceful service came to an end when someone secretly filmed his prayer and shared the video online. This led to a public outcry, with Hindu groups and others accusing him of defiling the temple. Subsequently, Mohammed was arrested and charged.

Despite the temple priest, Parmanand Das, defending Mohammed’s selfless service and condemning those who filmed him, the temple committee unanimously decided to remove him from his position. Mohammed was later released on bail.
