Families of Disappeared Shia Protest During Arbaeen Ceremony in Karachi
———————————-
As thousands of Shia Muslims gathered in Karachi to commemorate Arbaeen, families of missing Shia citizens staged a protest, demanding the release and safe return of their loved ones, Shia Waves Persian reported.
Dozens of men, women, and children joined the demonstration, holding portraits of the disappeared and placards condemning enforced disappearances. Protesters stressed that for years, many members of the Shia community have been detained without trial or have gone missing under unclear circumstances, leaving families in a state of constant fear and uncertainty.
The demonstrators urged Pakistan’s judiciary and security institutions to take responsibility and provide answers regarding the fate of the missing individuals.
The protest coincided with the central Arbaeen procession, one of the largest Shia gatherings in Karachi, symbolizing unity and devotion to Imam Hussein (peace be upon him). However, for the families of the disappeared, the event also underscored a shared pain, as the remembrance of sacrifice and justice resonated with their own struggle for truth and accountability.
