Iraq: Wasit Governor Opens New Hospital to Serve Arbaeen Pilgrims in Kut
…………………
Wasit Governor Hadi Majid Kzar Al-Hamashi inaugurated the Thamen Al-Aemma Hospital, also known as the “Iranian Hospital,” in Iraq’s central Kut on the Kut–Badra road. The facility aims to provide medical services for pilgrims traveling to Karbala for the Arbaeen pilgrimage.
The opening ceremony was attended by Mohammed Al-Azzawi, administrative assistant to the Wasit Health Department director. The hospital is staffed with specialists in ophthalmology, internal medicine, general surgery, and orthopedics, and is equipped with emergency rooms, an operating theater, inpatient wards, a pharmacy, X-ray facilities, a laboratory, a medicine store, and ambulances.
Al-Hamashi said the initiative strengthens healthcare services along key routes experiencing heavy traffic during Arbaeen. The hospital was established by the Iranian Red Crescent and the Medical Mission for Hajj and Pilgrimage, in cooperation with the Wasit local government.
