Basra Hosts First Live Calligraphy Workshop for Arbaeen Pilgrims
————————————–
Along the routes of Arbaeen pilgrims in Basra province, the first live calligraphy workshop has been held, organized by the “Qalam” (Pen) Center, an affiliate of a cultural institution’s Quranic section.
This program was featured as part of the “Medad Tif” exhibition and coincided with the commencement of the Arbaeen pilgrimage walk. According to the head of the center, the workshop, supervised by prominent calligrapher Salah al-Gharawi, was designed to introduce the art of calligraphy as an integral part of authentic cultural identity and to link it with significant occasions like Arbaeen.
The initiative aims to keep Islamic arts vibrant through interactive engagement with pilgrims and to convey visual messages related to Ashura and Arbaeen. This activity marks the first of its kind in the third edition of the Quranic camp programs in Basra.
