For the second consecutive year, Muhammad has topped the list of most popular baby names for boys in England and Wales, according to data reported by the BBC from the UK’s Office for National Statistics.

The name was given to 5,721 newborn boys in 2024—a 23% increase from the previous year. Variants such as Mohammed and Mohammad also ranked highly, placing 21st and 53rd respectively.

Other Muslim names in the top 100 include Yusuf, Musa, Ibrahim, and Yahya for boys, and Layla, Maryam, and Fatima for girls.
