Pakistan Releases Dozens of Afghans as Deportation Deadline Nears
………………..

Thirty-seven Afghan nationals were released from Pakistani prisons and returned to Afghanistan over the past two days, according to the Taliban-run Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation. The individuals crossed back into Afghanistan through Spin Boldak in Kandahar Province after reportedly spending one to two days in detention.

Earlier, 116 other Afghans were freed from various Pakistani jails on June 26 and 27. Taliban officials claim some detainees held valid documents but were still arrested by Pakistani police. The releases come as Pakistan moves ahead with the third phase of its forced deportation campaign targeting Afghan migrants.

The Interior Ministry set June 30 as the deadline for registered refugees, including Proof of Registration (PoR) card holders, to leave voluntarily. Amnesty International has urged Pakistan to halt deportations and extend PoR cards, warning that 1.4 million registered Afghans risk forced return. Many Afghan migrants report fear and uncertainty as the campaign continues.
