Holy Shrines in Baghdad and Samarra hold mourning ceremonies in commemoration of Imam Al-Sadiq’s Martyrdom

The holy shrines in Kazimiyya and Samarra held solemn mourning ceremonies and a large symbolic funeral procession on Wednesday to commemorate the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Ja’far al-Sadiq (peace be upon him). The events drew large crowds of mourners from across Iraq and abroad.

According to Shia Waves Agency, the Kazimiyya Shrine hosted a major mourning march that began at Quraysh Square and proceeded to the sacred courtyard, led by a symbolic coffin of Imam al-Sadiq. The procession featured religious recitations, elegies, and widespread participation from seminary students, shrine servants, and devotees of the Ahlulbayt (peace be upon them).

In Samarra, the Askari Shrine held a parallel ceremony starting from the House of the Awaited Imam (may Allah hasten his reappearance), where the symbolic coffin was carried shoulder-high amid chants of “Wa Sadiqah,” honoring the Imam’s suffering and immense contribution to the Islamic nation.

The administrations of both shrines extended condolences to Imam al-Mahdi (may Allah hasten his reappearance), senior religious authorities, and the global Muslim community. They emphasized the importance of remembering Imam al-Sadiq’s intellectual and spiritual legacy.
