Iraq: Construction work is underway in holy shrine of Muslim bin Aqil’s sons

The Secretariat-General of the Holy Shia Shrines in Iraq has announced the continuation of the expansion and development work at the shrine of Muslim bin Aqil’s sons, peace be upon them, in the district of Musayyib in Babylon.

Officials stated that the engineering teams continue their work on the expansion and development of the shrine, as well as other service-related works that are important to the honorable pilgrims.

The works include the construction of a health facility, a hall for religious events, and the eastern part where brick cutting is currently underway.

It pointed out that “the health facility at the shrine will consist of 44 units for men and an equal number for women, in addition to a 200 square meter hall for religious events,” explaining that “the cutting of the eastern section, which will cover a total area of 2000 square meters on two floors, is also continuing.”

The shrine of Muslim bin Aqil’s sons is an important Shia shrine that witnesses a large influx of visitors, especially during the anniversary of their martyrdom, when pilgrims commemorate this tragedy and remember the injustice they faced after the martyrdom of Imam Hussain, peace be upon him, in al-Taff battle.
