First Hussaini Festival Launches Walking Procession from Tal Afar to Holy Karbala
The first Hussaini festival was held in Tal Afar, Ninawa Province, Iraq, to coordinate and prepare for the walking procession to visit Imam al-Hussein (peace be upon him). The festival was organized under the auspices of Hussaini Mawakib and associations in Tal Afar, showcasing the necessary arrangements for the upcoming walking pilgrimage.
A delegation from Al-Zahra Channel, part of Imam Hussein Media Group, attended the festival and reported a significant turnout of Hussaini supporters, all under strict security measures to ensure the safety of participants. The event was themed “Walking Pilgrimage on the Path of O Zainab, from Tal Afar to Karbala.”
The delegation explained that the “Path of O Zainab, from Tal Afar to Karbala” pilgrimage aims to enhance the Hussaini spirit and embody solidarity with the values of Imam al-Hussein (peace be upon him). It reflects the commitment of Hussaini organizations in Tal Afar to facilitate broader participation in religious activities related to the Arbaeen pilgrimage.
Tal Afar is known for its large gatherings of Shia followers of the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them) and organizing this pilgrimage is part of efforts to strengthen Hussaini rituals and expand participation in the Arbaeen observance.
The route from Tal Afar to Karbala carries special significance, as it is the path taken by the family of Imam al-Hussein (peace be upon him) during their painful journey following the events of Ashura, adding a historical and spiritual dimension to this pilgrimage.
