UN chief urges global community to take urgent action on climate change
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Saturday called on the international community to take urgent action on climate change, Anadolu Agency reported yesterday.
In a message on Saturday, Guterres emphasized the critical importance of the next 18 months in the fight to limit global temperature rise to 1.5°C (2.7°F) and avoid the worst consequences of climate chaos.
“If there was ever a time to come together and deliver on climate – it is now,” Guterres stated. He urged world leaders to work together to create a healthier planet and safer future for all.
The UN has prioritized efforts to combat climate change, pressing nations to commit to more ambitious emissions reduction targets under the Paris Agreement.
