More than 100 killed across Pakistan, Afghanistan due to heavy rains, floods

Intense unseasonal rainfall, lightning, and floods have caused at least 100 deaths in Pakistan and Afghanistan over the past few days, VOA reported yesterday citing officials of the South Asian nations.

In Afghanistan, floods have affected 13 provinces, resulting in nearly 50 fatalities, injuries, and damage to livestock, the source added.

It mentioned that the heavy rains and floods have also impacted over 1,200 families, damaged almost 1,000 houses, and destroyed 25,000 hectares of agricultural land.

In Pakistan, over 50 people have died due to heavy rains, flash floods, lightning, storms, and landslides, with the most affected areas being the northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province and central Punjab province.
