8th International Conference “Salman: A Meeting of Religions” held in Baghdad, Iraq

The shrine of the revered companion Salman Al-Muhammadi in Iraq’s capital, Baghdad, hosted the 8th International Conference on Friday under the theme “Identity Challenges in the Era of Occultation.” Organized by the Secretariat General of ShiIa Shrines, the event gathered scholars and thinkers from 40 countries.
The conference opened with a Quranic recitation, followed by the Iraqi national anthem and a tribute to Iraq’s martyrs. A documentary highlighted the conference’s journey and its role in fostering interfaith dialogue. Key speakers emphasized the shrine’s role in promoting tolerance, stressing the importance of preserving religious identity amid contemporary challenges.
Discussions covered topics like ideological challenges and the role of religious institutions in social harmony, with over 100 research papers presented. The event concluded with awards for contributors and a call to expand future editions of the conference.
