Turkish authorities have carried out a major security sweep across the country, detaining 324 individuals suspected of links to the Islamic State (IS) militant group in coordinated raids spanning 47 provinces, the Turkish Interior Ministry announced on Wednesday.

The nationwide operation was conducted by provincial counter‑terrorism police in cooperation with the General Directorate of Security Intelligence, the National Intelligence Organization (MİT) and public prosecutors’ offices, targeting individuals accused of involvement with IS, including those wanted on warrants, alleged financiers of the group, and those previously linked to its activities.

Authorities also seized weapons, ammunition and financial assets as part of the crackdown, which underscores Ankara’s ongoing efforts to disrupt extremist networks and prevent attacks within Turkey.

The Interior Ministry emphasized that counter‑terrorism actions continue year‑round to protect national security, unity and social stability.

Turkey has been engaged in sustained operations against the Islamic State and affiliated cells for several years, with previous large‑scale arrests reported in multiple provinces and periodic clashes between security forces and suspected militants.
