Deadly Military Plane Crash Near Khartoum Claims 46 Lives

A military plane crash near Khartoum, Sudan, has resulted in at least 46 fatalities and 10 injuries, Khaama Press reported. The incident occurred shortly after takeoff from Wadi Seidna military airport on the evening of February 26, 2025, attributed to a technical failure.

The crash took place in a residential area, causing injuries to several local residents. Among the deceased was Bahr Ahmed Bahr, a high-ranking military commander. The Sudanese Ministry of Health confirmed the casualties and stated that military sources have identified the crash’s cause as a technical fault.

This tragic event occurs amid ongoing conflict in Sudan, where the military is engaged in confrontations with the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF). The situation in the country remains tense, complicating efforts to address the escalating violence between military and paramilitary factions. The RSF has yet to comment on the incident.
