The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) held an extraordinary session of its Council of Foreign Ministers in Jeddah, underscoring the need for collective action to end what they described as the “genocide” in Gaza, IQNA reported. The meeting was convened at the request of the State of Palestine, Türkiye, and Iran to address the ongoing Israeli military actions.

The OIC Secretary-General, Hissein Brahim Taha, called for an immediate and permanent ceasefire and condemned actions such as genocide, ethnic cleansing, and the use of starvation as a weapon. He stressed that Israel’s actions demand a more effective international response. The meeting also addressed concerns over Israel’s plans for total military control over the Gaza Strip and the “Greater Israel” vision, which Taha called a “flagrant violation of international law.”

The session concluded with a resolution that reaffirmed the OIC’s unified stance, rejecting Israel’s plans to occupy Gaza and demanding the immediate opening of humanitarian aid access. Indonesia’s Deputy Foreign Minister, Anis Matta, urged the OIC to mobilize all its resources to stop Israel’s annexation plan, highlighting that Palestine “will always remain the beating heart of this community.”

The meeting also reiterated support for a two-state solution and urged the international community to pressure Israel to release all withheld Palestinian tax revenues.
