More Than 38,000 Palestinian Children Orphaned Amid Ongoing Conflict

More than 38,000 Palestinian children have been orphaned due to the ongoing conflict in Gaza, Anadolu Agency reported citing Zaher al-Wahidi, a health official. Since October 2023, the war has resulted in the deaths of nearly 47,200 Palestinians, with a significant number being women and children. Al-Wahidi reported that approximately 13,901 women have been widowed, highlighting the extensive human toll of the conflict.

The statistics reveal that 32,151 children lost their fathers, 4,417 lost their mothers, and 1,918 lost both parents. The situation has prompted urgent calls for assistance to orphans and affected families.

A ceasefire agreement took effect on January 19, 2025, suspending hostilities for an initial six weeks. This agreement aims to establish a permanent truce and includes provisions for a prisoner exchange. The ongoing humanitarian crisis has also led to more than 11,000 individuals reported missing and widespread destruction throughout the region.
