Israel destroyed 79% of mosques, three churches in Gaza during its military operations against Palestinians: ministry report
The Ministry of Religious Affairs in Gaza reported that Israel has destroyed 79% of mosques in the region during its military operations, Anadolu Agency reported today.
A total of 814 out of 1,245 mosques have been flattened, with an additional 148 severely damaged. The ministry also noted the destruction of three churches and the targeting of 19 out of 60 cemeteries.
The estimated cost of the damage is $350 million. Furthermore, 11 administrative and educational facilities were destroyed, representing 79% of such structures in Gaza. Israeli forces reportedly killed 238 ministry employees and detained 19 others.
The ongoing conflict has resulted in over 41,800 fatalities, primarily among women and children, and has displaced nearly the entire population of Gaza. Despite a UN Security Council resolution calling for a cease-fire, hostilities continue. Israel is facing a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its actions in the territory.
