Nigeria: 10,000 displaced due to conflict in urgent need of humanitarian assistance, warns IRC
The International Rescue Committee (IRC) has raised the alarm about a worsening humanitarian crisis in northwest Nigeria, reliefweb reported in an article yesterday.
Over the past two months, armed attacks have displaced at least 10,000 people and killed 92 in the Zamfara and Sokoto states, with many more kidnapped.
The attacks have left people without access to basic necessities like water, sanitation, and health services. Over half of those affected are women, putting them at risk of exploitation and abuse.
The IRC is calling for urgent humanitarian assistance and for all parties to uphold the protection of civilians.
The organization has been working in Nigeria since 2012, providing critical relief and recovery programs in the region.
