UN Chief: No Military Solution to Middle East Conflicts

The United Nations has reiterated that there is no military solution to the crisis in the Middle East, stressing that diplomacy remains the only viable path forward.
UN Secretary-General António Guterres said in remarks to the press on Tuesday that achieving a sustainable settlement requires genuine political will and continuous engagement from all parties. He called for the resumption of serious negotiations and efforts to maintain the current ceasefire in order to prevent further escalation in the region.
Guterres emphasized that respect for international law is a fundamental requirement for any lasting resolution, highlighting the importance of ensuring freedom of navigation in international waterways, including the Strait of Hormuz, by all concerned states.
He urged restraint and responsibility at the current critical stage, calling for a shift away from escalation toward dialogue, and saying that diplomacy must take precedence over military confrontation.
The UN chief also noted indications that talks between Iran and the United States may resume in the coming period, expressing hope that such developments could help reduce tensions and open the way toward peaceful solutions to the regional crisis.
