At least 60 people die after Mediterranean ship gets lost at sea
Survivors from a sinking rubber dinghy rescued in the central Mediterranean Sea have revealed that around 60 individuals who set off from Libya with them a week prior tragically perished during the voyage, Al Jazeera reported.
SOS Mediterranee announced on Thursday that, in collaboration with the Italian coastguard, they had saved 25 individuals in a critical state the day before. Two unconscious people were also air-transferred to Sicily, but later died, the news agency reported.
It added that the survivor’s engine broke after three days, leaving their boat lost (and) adrift without water and food for days.
