World Leaders Urge Immediate Action on Climate Change at UN General Assembly

Global leaders at the United Nations General Assembly warned that climate change is no longer a distant threat but an immediate danger requiring bold international commitments.

According to Reuters, UN Secretary-General António Guterres emphasized that “clean energy is competitive, and climate action is essential,” calling for a significant reduction in greenhouse gas emissions in line with the 1.5°C target of the Paris Agreement.

Guterres also highlighted the upcoming COP30 summit in Brazil, urging countries to present a credible global plan to limit global warming while strengthening financial commitments and promoting climate justice.

The warnings come amid mounting evidence of disappearing forests, sinking islands, and extreme weather events worldwide, underscoring the urgent need for coordinated international action to protect vulnerable communities and ecosystems.
