Norwegian Police to carry arms after threats made against Muslim community
The Norwegian police have announced that officers on duty will be carrying firearms in response to threats made against the Muslim community, TRTWorld reported yesterday.
The police director general made the decision on Saturday to arm officers nationwide, citing threats against the Muslim religious community and the upcoming Eid al Fitr festival.
According to police spokesman Roar Hansen, mosques have been targeted with threats.
It is worth mentioning that the Police in Norway, like in other Scandinavian countries, do not generally carry arms.
