New Chinese Innovation Creates Electricity-Generating Windows
——————————
Researchers at Nanjing University in China have developed a groundbreaking green technology: a transparent coating that allows windows to generate electricity while maintaining clarity.
The innovation involves a clear film made of liquid crystals that is applied to the glass. This coating redirects sunlight to small solar cells mounted around the window’s edges.
According to the journal Photonics, a prototype of this technology successfully generated enough energy to power a small fan, demonstrating a new, aesthetic pathway toward creating highly energy-efficient and green buildings.
