First Quran Museum in Chicago inaugurated
A museum that showcases a collection of historic Quranic manuscripts has been inaugurated in Chicago, United States.
The Nagamia International Institute of Islamic Medicine and Science (NIIMS) based in Illinois, announced the opening of the “Rare Quranic collection of Antique Qurans and Quranic Manuscripts” at NIIMS Museum/Library, in Rolling Meadows, Chicago, IL.
A welcome event was held at the opening. Some manuscripts are as old as 600 years.
The collection includes almost 100 Qurans and Quranic manuscripts, all handwritten on different materials such as bamboo, palm trees and leather.
“We are honored to have these on display at the NIIMS Museum,” NIIMS is quoted saying in the press release, noting that the Quranic collection and “priceless” Quranic manuscripts are now on display at the NIIMS Museum.
