A child’s birthday celebration in Northern California turned deadly when a gunman opened fire, killing four people and wounding several others late Saturday night, Khaama Press reported. Authorities in Stockton said at least 10 additional victims were injured during the attack, which occurred at a family gathering attended by both adults and children.

Stockton Deputy Mayor Jason Lee described the event as a tragedy that unfolded “within seconds,” noting that local officials are coordinating closely with law enforcement as investigations continue. The suspect remains at large, and police have not disclosed any potential motive.

Residents with security camera footage or information have been urged to come forward to assist in identifying the shooter. The incident drew a significant police presence throughout the neighborhood. It came just a day after a separate shooting in San Jose that left three people injured, though authorities say the two events do not appear connected.
