Barack Obama Backs Muslim Candidate for New York Mayoral Race

During a campaign rally in Virginia, former U.S. President Barack Obama urged Democrats to stand against what he described as the “lawlessness and recklessness” of President Donald Trump, calling the political climate in the country “dark.”

Obama criticized Trump’s policies on tariffs, the deployment of the National Guard, and the administration’s aggressive conduct.

He also reached out to Zohran Mamdani, the Muslim candidate for New York City mayor, offering guidance and support if Mamdani wins the election. Mamdani has been a target of attacks from Trump during the campaign.
