Report Finds Islamophobia Has Become Institutionalized in the United States
…………..

A recent investigation by The Colorado Times has revealed that Islamophobia in the United States has evolved from isolated prejudice into a systemic, institutionalized phenomenon embedded in the country’s security, media, and political structures. Former federal agent Jamie Haas, who previously worked in the Department of Homeland Security’s investigations unit, described anti-Muslim sentiment as “the only form of bigotry still publicly tolerated” in America.

According to the report, anti-Islam rhetoric often goes unchallenged, while discrimination against other religious or ethnic groups faces legal consequences. It traces the roots of institutional Islamophobia to the post-9/11 era, when fear of Islam was leveraged to justify domestic surveillance and foreign military policies. Large media and security organizations, the report added, have perpetuated distorted portrayals of Islam as violent and incompatible with Western values.

The report also cited rising attacks on mosques and local authorities’ reluctance to approve new Islamic centers, framing Muslim worship as a potential “security threat.” It further highlighted that inflammatory remarks by public figures, including Senator Ted Cruz, have gone unpunished, normalizing anti-Muslim bias. Haas concluded that political narratives—amplified by close U.S.-Israeli alignment—continue to portray Islam as an existential danger, deepening divisions and fostering mistrust toward American Muslims.
