Sea Rescue NGO Warns of Rising Violence Against Refugees in Europe
——————————-
The non-governmental organization Sea Rescue issued a warning on Tuesday, October 21, in Berlin about the increasing violence faced by refugees following recent European Union asylum reforms, highlighting the dangerous conditions for displaced people.
According to the BBC, the organization’s CEO reported that underage refugees have recounted experiences of torture in Libyan camps, and that rescue operations in the Mediterranean are often conducted under extremely hazardous conditions.
Founded in 2015, the NGO has been operating under its current name since 2022, focusing on the rescue of refugees at sea and providing humanitarian support.
Officials emphasized the urgent need for protection, security, and care for refugees, calling on the international community to take immediate action to safeguard vulnerable populations and prevent further abuses.
