US Drops Out of World’s Top 10 Most Powerful Passports for First Time
……………..
The United States has fallen out of the world’s top 10 most powerful passports for the first time, NDTV reported. According to the 2025 Henley Passport Index, the US now ranks 12th—alongside Malaysia—with visa-free access to 180 destinations out of 227. Singapore leads the index with access to 193 destinations, followed by South Korea and Japan.
Analysts attribute the US decline to reduced reciprocity and stricter travel policies, as well as recent visa changes by countries such as Brazil, Vietnam, and China. In contrast, Asian nations have gained stronger mobility through expanded visa agreements. The report highlights shifting global power dynamics favoring countries that promote openness and cooperation.
