Morocco: Navy rescues 38 migrants off Atlantic coast

The Moroccan navy conducted a rescue operation on Thursday, saving 38 migrants from a boat in the Atlantic near Tan-Tan port, Xinhua reported today.

The Moroccan Royal Armed Forces confirmed the rescue, stating that a navy unit intercepted the boat 38 km northeast of Tan-Tan as it was heading towards the Canary Islands, the source mentioned.

The news agency added that the migrants, 36 from sub-Saharan countries and two from Asian countries, received first aid care and were then handed over to the Royal Gendarmerie for standard administrative procedures.
