Morocco’s parliamentary elections have resulted in a new political landscape, with moderate Islamist currents regaining a significant presence in the country’s legislative arena.

The elections, which were marked by lower voter participation compared with previous cycles, brought changes to the composition of the House of Representatives and reshaped the balance among major political parties.

According to Africa Report, the Justice and Development Party (PJD), a moderate Islamist-oriented party, secured 54 seats, restoring its position among Morocco’s leading political forces.

The Authenticity and Modernity Party (PAM) emerged as the largest party in the elections, winning 97 seats.

Under Morocco’s constitution, the king is required to appoint the country’s next prime minister from the ranks of the party that wins the largest number of seats in the parliamentary elections.

The results are expected to influence the formation of the next government and the direction of political alliances within Morocco’s parliament.
