Toronto Faces Poor Air Quality Due to Ongoing Wildfire Smoke
………………..

Toronto remained among the world’s most polluted cities on Monday morning as southern Ontario continues to experience poor air quality from wildfire smoke, CBC reported. The city and surrounding areas, including Mississauga, Brampton, and Vaughan, are under a special air quality statement for the third consecutive day.

Environment Canada warns that smoke levels and visibility can fluctuate rapidly and may persist through Tuesday before improving. Meteorologists say precipitation expected next weekend is the most likely factor to clear the air, with Wednesday offering only a slight chance of relief.

Residents are advised to limit outdoor activities, especially vulnerable groups such as children, seniors, pregnant individuals, and those with chronic health conditions. Wearing well-fitted masks like N95s and taking breaks indoors in places with cleaner air are recommended precautions.

Symptoms from exposure include eye, nose, throat irritation, headaches, and coughing. Authorities urge people to keep windows closed and to check on neighbors who may be more affected by the smoke.
