Afghan Defense Minister Asadullah Khalid said that if the Taliban terrorist movement does not stop its attacks by the end of the week, then the Afghan army will switch from defense to attacking the armed group.
“The Afghan forces will remain on the defensive side until the end of this week at the direction of President Ashraf Ghani because of the peace agreement, but if the Taliban does not stop their attacks by the end of the week, our forces will target the enemy everywhere,” Assadullah said in a statement.
The Taliban had announced this month that they would resume operations against Afghan forces, despite continuing to stop attacks on international forces, after an agreement to reduce violence, which followed the signing of a peace agreement with the United States in Qatar, according to “Reuters”.
The Afghan Ministry of Defense announced, last Wednesday, that seven soldiers had been killed in an attack on army positions in Kunduz province.
The ministry confirmed, “10 terrorists were killed in response to the attack.”
