Representatives of Muslim communities in Germany expressed their feelings of anxiety and isolation, as a result of the growing right-wing extremism in the country and the increase in racist attacks against them.
Ayman Mazik, head of the Supreme Council for German Muslims, said that the state of anxiety and isolation felt by Muslims in Germany is due to the growth of the extreme right and its hostile activities in the country.
He added in a statement that an organization known as the “neo-Nazis” have appeared in the country, noting that it was responsible for committing racist crimes that led to the death of 10 people, including 8 Turks.
Germany also witnessed the murder of Walter Lubke, the governor of Kassel, last year, by right-wing extremists, as well as statistics showing that mosques and Islamic centers are under attack every two days during the past year.
The President of the Council stressed the need to combat the growth of racism in Germany, and the need to unite for humanity and democracy and reject hate and racism, indicating that the presence of an extremist organization planning attacks against mosques is not a phenomenon that has suddenly surfaced.
Mazyek pointed out that the mosques were attacked in 2019 in the New Zealand city of Christchurch and the Norwegian capital, Oslo, which proves that the extreme right has established a global network.
