The Bahraini Jaw Central Prison Administration admitted that dozens of prisoners had developed a skin disease after they were deliberately neglected since last August, prompting them to go on a food strike more than once.
The Director General of the General Administration of Reform and Rehabilitation said that it found that 57 inmates had developed a skin disease after presenting them to the specialist doctor, adding that all preventive measures will be taken in such cases, which are to isolate the sick prisoners and provide the necessary treatment for them.
The official statement came 4 months after the outbreak of the disease in Jaw Central Prison among a large number of political prisoners in the facility.
It is also worth noting that the Jaw Central Prison is one of the worst prisons in which prisoners face multiple forms of torture and ill-treatment.
