On Saturday, the Taliban terrorist movement claimed responsibility for the killing of ten Afghan soldiers in an attack on a military base in the southern province of Helmand.
The Taliban claimed the attack in a statement issued by its spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid, and sent to the media.
Afghan officials reported that Taliban militants had dug a tunnel to the base in the Singen area, and detonated it before their fighters could attack the military compound.
“There were 18 soldiers at the base providing security for the people of Singen, four soldiers were wounded and four others fervently repelled the Taliban attack,” said the spokesman for the Afghan Army’s “Maywand 215” battalion in southern Afghanistan.
Last Tuesday, seven Afghan soldiers were killed by a Taliban attack on a base in Balkh province in the north of the country.
