Man steals safe from Washington Heights mosque with $1,500 inside: NYPD

A man is accused of stealing a safe with more than a thousand dollars inside from a Manhattan mosque with a hand truck overnight Friday, according to a police spokesperson.
A man is accused of stealing a safe with more than a thousand dollars inside from a Manhattan mosque with a hand truck overnight Friday, according to a police spokesperson.
The man, who police released photos of, allegedly entered the Masjid Al-Rahman mosque at 575 West 175 St. in Washington Heights just before 1:30 a.m. Friday. through the front door, which was apparently unlocked.
Once inside the mosque, the man used a hand truck from the house of worship to remove a safe that contained about $1,500 in cash, police said.
The man was wearing a dark colored coat with a fur-lined hood, dark colored pants, gray gloves and light colored sneakers, police said.
