ISIS was involved in the Afghan conflict in 2015 when it took control of large swathes of Nangarhar and Kunar states near the border with Pakistan.

“ISIS has been defeated in Nangarhar and its centers have been destroyed in the midst of continuous operations against terrorists,” Afghan Interior Minister told reporters in Jalalabad, capital of Nangarhar province.

“We will soon destroy their last centers, and with the help of the people, we will eliminate them completely.”

AFP mentioned that, “ISIS is suffering a total defeat in Afghanistan.”
