The United Nations has confirmed that more than half of the war dead in Yemen are children and women.
More than 50 percent of Yemenis who died as a result of the conflict are women and children, the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) said in a tweet on the occasion of World Children’s Rights Day.
For the fifth year in a row, Yemen has been in a war that has left most of the population in need of humanitarian assistance, while millions are on the brink of starvation in one of the world’s worst humanitarian crises, according to UN estimates.
