The United Nations Secretary-General’s special envoy to Yemen, Martin Griffiths, has called for an investigation into air strikes on the Yemeni city of Dhamar on Sunday that killed and injured more than 100 detainees.
“What happened in Dhamar is a tragedy with which the human cost of war has become unbearable and this must stop,” Griffiths said.
Griffiths said the only way to end the killings and suffering in Yemen is to end the conflict in the country.
The Saudi-led coalition denied targeting the prison, noting that it had targeted warehouses for drones and hostile air defense missiles, as well as military targets.
