Nigeria announces killing of a leader of group linked to ISIS

Nigerian security forces have killed the new leader of a group linked to ISIS terrorist organization, which is accused of killing hundreds in Nigeria and neighboring West African countries, a senior security official said.
Nigeria’s National Security Adviser, Babagana Monguno, said that the forces “eliminated Malam Baku, who recently succeeded Abu Musab al-Barnawi as the leader of the ISIS terrorist organization in West Africa earlier this week.”
Monguno praised the Nigerian security forces “fighting the rebel extremists in the northeast of the country and the Lake Chad Basin region for doing an excellent job after eliminating the group’s leader and successor within a month.”
He added, “The group linked to ISIS is facing a leadership crisis, and the Nigerian army’s operations have imposed a lot of pressure on it and its rival, Boko Haram.
