Dozens of Muslims donate their blood to the needy in Ukraine

Dozens of Ukrainian Muslims donated their blood to the needy as part of a periodic campaign organized by the Islamic centers, in cooperation with blood banks and the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense.
The campaign was hosted by the Islamic cultural centers in the capital, Kiev, and the city of Odesav.
The head of the Maryam Islamic Women’s Association and social activist Olina Mironenko stated, “The idea of donating was built on the basis of the noble verse: ‘and whoever saves a life, it will be as if they saved all of humanity’.”
“The campaign came in the midst of the war against separatists in the east of the country, as a kind of material and moral support, which Muslims can provide as part of society,” added Olina, who received the certificate of “Top Ten Women Leaders” in the capital, Kiev.
She added, “Since the beginning of the campaigns years ago, we have seen a great turnout by Muslims, and an appreciation by the concerned authorities, especially in the Ministry of Defense, which opened the doors for broader cooperation, such as conducting courses in the field of first aid and others.”
Mironenko added, “In our last campaign in Kiev, 56 people participated in the campaign, and we collected – with God’s grace and success – 23 liters of blood, hoping to save the lives of soldiers defending our country, or patients who need the support of others to recover.”
