Afghanistan: “Taliban” the main obstacle to achieving peace in the country

Afghan Presidential spokesman Siddiq Siddiqui said the country is facing an organization that has “clear enmity” with the people of Afghanistan.

Afghan Presidential spokesman Siddiq Siddiqui said the country is facing an organization that has “clear enmity” with the people of Afghanistan.

“The Taliban is the main obstacle to the peace process,” Siddiqui told a news conference in the Afghan capital Kabul on Thursday.

“The Taliban must immediately renounce violence and seize the opportunity to achieve peace,” Siddiqui said, adding that they had no other choice but to end the war.

The Afghan presidential spokesman made the remarks in response to a car bomb explosion in Kabul yesterday near the police station that killed 14 people and wounded 145 others, mostly civilians.
