According to RT Arabic, the Saudi Ministry of Islamic Affairs has also slammed the incident and vowed to pursue the issue and punish the perpetrators.
In recent years, there have been numerous cases of disregard for the sanctity of the Quran in Saudi Arabia.
They ranged from discarding Qurans in drainage systems to desecration of Quran by prison guards.
In 2017, a large number of copies of the Holy Quran were founded discarded in the street drainage system in one of the district of Taif.
In 2014, a Saudi citizen found torn copies of Islam’s Holy Book in garbage cans again in the same city.
In 2013, Quran copies were found in the sewage system in Taif.
Later that year, insulting the Holy Book by prison officials in Al-Haer province led to protests in different parts of the country.
