Sheikh Saleh Sibweih and Sheikh Taqi Zakeri, two representatives of Grand Ayatollah Shirazi in Canada and USA took part in the 17th assembly of Islamic scholars of North America in the US capita, Washington DC..
This assembly also hosted 50 more Islamic figures from Canada and the US.
At the beginning, the statute and the order of the North American scholars’ assembly was discussed.
Furthermore, five different commissions, consisting of six to eight members, were assigned for different tasks. Sheikh Zakeri and Sheikh Sibweih were included in the commissions of religious and scientific affairs and communicative affairs respectively.
This assembly also discussed critical issues about the Islamic community, particularly with regards to Shia Muslims.
The representatives of the Grand Jurist Ayatollah Shirazi conveyed the advices of his eminence and emphasized on the spirit of brotherhood among all Islamic scholars as well as establishing channels for dialogue with followers of other faiths.
At the end of this session, comprehensive training courses were held by NVMS institute, focusing on the skill sets for mediation in accordance with the US and Canadian laws.
