Tatarstan making documentary on Quran

A documentary film about the Holy Quran is being produced in the Republic of Tatarstan, Russia.

the website of the Tatarstan Muslims Religious Department was quoted as saying that the film features the history of the Quran in the republic.

It also discusses the efforts made by Tatarstan religious figures to spread the message of the Quran and its publication.

Yafim Rizvan, a Russian researcher of Islam and the Quran, and Michael Petrovsky, a prominent Islamologist and Director-General of State Hermitage Museum in Saint Petersburg are among the experts contributing to the documentary.

The film has been ordered by the Tatarstan Muslims Religious Department.

The Republic of Tatarstan is a federal subject of the Russian Federation, located in the Volga Federal District. Its capital is the city of Kazan.

Islam is the most common faith in Tatarstan, as 55 percent of the estimated 3.8 million population is Muslim.
