Women’s prestige in Islam discussed in Kabul

A gathering of religious scholars and government officials was held Saturday in Kabul where the participants highlighted women’s prestige in Islam.

Minister of Hajj and Religious Affairs, Faiz Mohammad Osmani, urged the religious scholars and mosques leaders to propagate the true essence of Islam in which woman is most respected.

Afghanistan’s First Lady RulavGhani expressed, optimism about women’s future in the country, was one of the participants in the event.

“Presence of women in key social sectors like education, health, security and agricultural makes me hopeful about women’s future,” Ghani said.

“Violence against women has turned into a common trend in Afghanistan,” said Suraya Subhrang, a commissioner at the Afghanistan’s Independent Human Rights Commission (AIHRC).

Meanwhile, Minister of Women’s Affairs, Dilbar Nazari, admitted women are experiencing violence in different parts of the country.
