Human Rights Committee of Iraqi parliament confirmed plans
Human Rights Committee of Iraqi parliament confirmed plans to get the massive march of Shia pilgrims on Arbaeen written on UNESCO’s World Heritage List. Habib al-Turfi, a member of the committee, said that western media is turning a blind eye on the pilgrims of Arbaeen marching towards the holy shrine of Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, adding that it uses double standard policy concerning certain issues that contradict with its western policies. Arbaeen, which is one of the largest religious gatherings in the world, comes 40 days after Ashura, the martyrdom anniversary of the third Shia Imam, Imam Hussein, peace be upon him. Each year, a huge crowd of Shias flock to Karbala, where the holy shrine of Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, is located, to perform mourning rites.
