Turkish cybercrime police have dismantled an international fraud network in Istanbul accused of using advanced artificial intelligence methods to target victims in several countries.
The rapid development of new technologies and AI tools has increasingly been exploited by criminal networks to threaten citizens’ financial security and privacy, prompting security agencies to intensify efforts against emerging forms of digital crime.
According to Anadolu Agency, Istanbul cybercrime units carried out a large-scale operation in full coordination with the International Criminal Police Organization, Interpol, against a network suspected of using AI-based techniques for fraud.
During the operation, authorities identified and arrested 80 foreign nationals. Police also seized a large quantity of digital equipment and materials allegedly used in the criminal activities.
Officials said the operation reflected growing regional efforts to combat modern economic and cybercrimes that target public security, personal privacy, and the financial safety of citizens.
