Elon Musk’s X Seeks Reinstatement in Brazil After Court Compliance
Elon Musk’s social media platform X has complied with Brazilian Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes’ orders and requested reinstatement in Brazil, VOA reported.
Following a court ruling on August 30 that led to X being blocked, the platform has now blocked certain accounts, appointed a legal representative, and paid fines.
De Moraes had ordered the shutdown amid concerns over misinformation and far-right content, sparking a fierce exchange with Musk, who accused the judge of censorship. X’s new representative, Rachel de Oliveira Villa Nova Conceicao, is the same person who held the position before the platform’s office closure. To protect her from potential legal repercussions, X included a clause in their agreement requiring prior written instructions for any actions that could lead to violations of Brazilian law.
Brazil’s actions against X echo similar tensions the platform faced with India in 2021.
